Electronic PrePress

The goal of the Prepress Department is to get your job produced free of errors and on time; eliminating delays and costs to you, the customer. The Prepress staff is here and ready to answer all of your questions relating to design and production of your desktop applications. By working with you before the files arrive at Inland Press, we hope to eliminate any delays or problems through the prepress process.

FILE PREPARATION

Inland Press uses Macintosh and Windows compatible computers. We recommend using the most recent Adobe Cloud software to prepare your print ready files.

We will accept your print-ready PDF files or application (native) files from supported applications, although we prefer to receive PDF files whenever possible. Once artwork has been saved in this format, all the settings from your program and computer are locked in. This helps to eliminate problems caused by different system setups between Inland Press’ computers and yours.

Page layout files should not be created using word processing programs. Projects created in word processing programs often encounter reflow and printing issues. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word, and Corel WordPerfect. If a word processing program must be used, it is strongly recommended that you create a PDF file and submit it to us as a test prior to submitting your live project files.

GATHERING FILES FOR OUTPUT

Adobe InDesign features a “Package for Output” option to package your files for a service provider. Please use this feature, as it will reduce problems with missing components for the output of your project.  Including all makeready files used in the InDesign document along with the print ready pdf is recommended.

FILE SUBMISSION

You can submit your print-ready files via pathways listed below.  Please compress your file(s) before sending them electronically. Uncompressed files have a greater chance of corruption during transmission.
